Care, Maintenance & Service Life

Viking firefighting suits must be inspected after every use, washed at the temperature specified on the care label, and retired following significant fire exposure, contamination, or physical damage. Service life is typically 10 years from manufacture under normal operational use. We supply Viking suit care labels, maintenance guides, and can advise on inspection and retirement protocols for fire department procurement managers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Viking firefighting suits do you supply?

We supply structural (EN 469), proximity/aluminised (EN 1486), wildland (EN ISO 11612), and chemical/CBRN suits (EN 943). All Viking suits are CE certified and supplied with EU Declaration of Conformity and EN test reports.

What Viking suit is recommended for petrochemical fire brigades?

Viking proximity suits (EN 1486, aluminised) for radiant heat protection near hydrocarbon fires. For vapour-tight protection in LNG or chemical plant incidents, Viking ChemMax series (EN 943 Type 1/2) provides full gas-tight protection. Contact us for application-specific advice.

What is the difference between EN 469 Level 1 and Level 2?

Level 2 provides higher thermal and moisture protection for interior structural fire attack — recommended for operational firefighters. Level 1 is minimum performance for exterior or support roles. Most fire services in Egypt and the Gulf specify Level 2.

How are Viking suits sized and supplied?

Standard sizes XS–4XL, with custom cuts available. Bulk orders include consolidated documentation: EN declaration of conformity, care labels, and retirement instructions. Standard lead time 4–8 weeks; custom 8–12 weeks.
